Third Eye Blind Brings the 90s to the Wellmont

Band Set to Record New Material in December

Third Eye Blind performed at the Wellmont Theater and brought the 90s back to every adult in the audience. The set included band classics as well as some of the tracks that will make up a new album due out sometime next year. For the time being, it was clear Third Eye Blind was just fine being right where they were, in front of a screaming audience singing along to every word. “Losing A Whole Year,” off the band’s debut album in 1996, was an early celebrated appearance.

The packed house was going crazy with vocalist Stephan Jenkins. The response of the crowed and how they sang along made everybody feel like they belonged together. The line outside the venue before the show stretched around the block to Bloomfield Ave and once inside the fans jammed as close as possible to the stage on the general admission floor.

The band’s set included the hits “Jumper,” and “Never Let Go.” The lights lit Jenkins as he talked to the audience. The 49 year-old singer thanked the Montclair community for their support and drew applause when he told the Wellmont the band was headed back into the studio in December.

The band walked off stage but the crowd knew it wasn’t over. For the encore they performed ‘Narcolepsy’ and ‘Semi Charmed Life ‘which made the entire audience to go crazy. The level of excitement in the audience during these songs was at a high point before the finale, ‘God of Wine,’ a mellow song, ended the night in grace.

Third Eye Blind has been touring since the mid 90s and in that time released 4 full albums, with a 5th on the way. Jenkins told the audience, “This is the good part,” refereeing to the past 15 years.

Upcoming shows at the Wellmont Theater will be Dave Mustaine’s Megadeth on Nov 29th, the Cult on Dec 5th and Lupe Fiasco on Dec 7th.
