The Shops at Nanuet located in Rockland County New York, finally opened to the general public last week. On Thursday morning, October 10th a ribbon cutting ceremony was performed, officially re-opening The Shops where the old Nanuet Mall once stood. Residents marveled at its brilliant architecture and creative layout, calling it a “modern mall” with a “ south jersey feeling to it”. The vibrant outdoor shopping environment presents a whole new approach to retail, allowing Simon Malls to once again compete with Woodbury Commons located in Orange County and the Palisades mall in Neighboring West Nyack, NY.
Stores and restaurants new to the market include an apple store, Bonefish grill, a full sized Fairway Market and countless more. As for entertainment, Regal Cinemas will be opening in November and a 24 Hour Fitness is scheduled to open in December.
This 750,000 square foot state of the art shopping center will not only attract local residents in Rockland, but all people across Northern New Jersey. Now that The Shops have reclaimed the title as shopping center of the county, hopes to bring in New Jersey clientele will grow exponentially. Blue laws on Sunday dictate what stores can and cannot be open in Bergen County. Since Nanuet is only 5 minuets from the Jersey border, it will be a new hot spot for NJ shoppers on the weekend.
