On the mid-week hump of Wednesday, many are pushing through to get to the end. Luckily for listeners, sophomore Nick Marchese, host of The Mind of Marchese, an entertainment talk show on WMSC radio, offers great inspiration for people to keep pushing. For any listener of this show, they will be greeted with a spark of energy that will wake them up right away.
“I started at the radio station right away during my freshman year,” the host said. “I felt like there was a lot of fun stuff I could talk about since I like to tell stories. There weren’t too many talk shows, and I just wanted to bring students on air and let them know what’s here.”
His need to tell stories comes from his interest in filmmaking, now his major at MSU. He also expressed his interest in music, as he is a singer himself. All of this translates to the show, and gives him much to talk about from movies to music, and strange articles online, which seemed to be the most entertaining bit of discussion for his guests.
“Nick is just really funny and brings a lot of personality to the show,” said guest and “Apprentice DJ” Lea Ruwaldt. “There’s something new to discuss every time and makes the show great to be a part of.”
Other students are encouraged to come onto the show to discuss topics and mix things up every week. Nicole Mainenti, another aspiring DJ, was on the show and too had a positive review.
“I feel like being on this show has helped bring out my personality more,” the junior said. “It’s a lot of fun to be here and just talk about whatever we want.”
Overall, Nick brings humor to “The Mind” and makes it a good experience to listen to or be a part of in the studio, and seems to be one of the more fun shows available to cure dreary mornings.
“I really want people to feel relaxed honestly. I can take serious topics and maybe break them down and lighten up the moment.” He went on to say, “I think people should just be able to wake up in the morning and have a few laughs.”
The Mind of Marchese is on 90.3 WMSC from 10am to 1pm Wednesdays. You can also follow the show on Twitter @MindOfMarchese.
