Students across Montclair State University’s campus are being encouraged to get out the vote this Election Day – Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015. For the third year, polling booths will be available to students on campus. The Center for Student Involvement’s Civic & Voter Engagement is working to educate students on who their candidates are, where they can vote, and why this election is just as important as a presidential election.
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. This groundbreaking legislation was enacted during a key point in the Civil Rights Movement. In recognition, a display, posters and timeline will be available in the Student Center & Machuga Heights.
