MSU Field Hockey Shuts Out William Patterson

Team remains undefeated 9-0 on season

The seniors of the MSU Lady Red Hawks took charge Wednesday night as they beat down William Paterson 6-0, improving to 9-0 on the season and 2-0 in the NJAC conference. All four seniors are starters and add to the explosive impact of the team. Senior midfielder and captain Stephanie Lewis had two of the six goals and assisted on three more. Senior midfielder Jenny Tafro had another two goals and one assist, and senior Brooke Hullings added one more goal.

The Lady Red Hawks are currently ranked number one in the country in Division III field hockey. After a tough loss in the national championship game last year against Tufts University, MSU is striking back with a vengeance.

Coach Gottung says that their goal is to be number one at the end of the season. Right now every game is important and the team plays every game like it matters.

The Lady Red Hawks are off until October 2nd, when they’ll host Stevens, followed by a conference game against Rowan on the 5th.

Stay tuned for a video package featuring interviews with the captains of the team as well as the head coach.
