Killswitch Engage, an American heavy metal band from Boston, Mass. will be taking the stage at Starland Ballroom on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
The band, which was formed in 1999, have produced six albums and an EP, with the most recent album being named Disarm the Descent which came out in April 2013.
Killswitch Engage rose to fame after the band released their 2004 album titled The End of Heartache. The album went number 21 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2007. In 2005, the band had a stellar year after The End of Heartache was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Metal Performance and their live DVD titled (Set This) World Ablaze was released. Killswitch Engage has sold over four million records in the United States.
The band members of Killswitch Engage currently consists of vocalist Jesse Leach, guitarists Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel, bassist Mike D’Antonio, and drummer Justin Foley. In 2002, vocalist Leach left Killswitch Engage for personal reasons and Howard Jones joined the band.
Throughout the years that Leach was gone, Killswitch Engage released three albums with Jones as lead singer. In 2004, they released the album titled The End of Heartache. In 2006, they released the album As Daylight Dies. Lastly, in 2009, they released their self-titled album Killswitch Engage.
In February 2012, Leach rejoined Killswitch Engage following the departure of vocalist Jones in January 2012.
The band has recently released their newest song titled “Strength of the Mind” on Dec. 10, 2015. They also recently completed demoing material for their next studio album that is set to be released in March 2016.
Killswitch Engage is currently on tour and will be playing in New Jersey in a few weeks. “I like going to see Killswitch Engage live because their concerts are really fun,” says avid concert-goer, Nick Marek. “The band has a lot of energy and the music is great. The show will be held at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, N.J. on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Starland Ballroom opened in 2003 and since then has sold millions of tickets for events held at the venue. Both celebrities and musicians have been at Starland such as Bruce Springsteen, Cameron Diaz, comedians Jim Florentine and Bob Levy, Hilary Duff, baseball star Mike Piazza and others.
