Community Rallies Behind Hit-and-Run Victim

On Wednesday, October 28th, a community came together at the Bergen Brick Oven Bar & Grill for a fundraiser for Montclair State senior, Anna Semioli. Semioli, 22, was struck near the Valley Road exit on Route 46 in Clifton on October 9th. The man responsible for the hit-and-run, Michael Choynowski, 27 of North Arlington, turned himself in a week after the incident. Semioli remains in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

The fundraiser was organized by Alissa Daglezt, after she discovered Semioli did not have health insurance at the time of the accident. $4,000 was raised that night along with $7,055 from a GoFundMe account. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office at 973-881-4800.
