CARPE DIEM: Why Division III?

Despite the limelight and national attention being on Division I schools, many student athletes find the less strict athletic system at Division III schools to be more appealing than their televised and over-analyzed counterparts. In this week’s episode of Carpe Diem, we take a look at the decisions some student athletes make when they transfer from a Division I to a Division III school.

Montclair State University is one of over four hundred Division III schools and has developed quite a reputation in Division III athletics. Our guests, Holly Gera, the athletic director here at Montclair State University and Mike Scala, Montclair State’s sports information director, talk about the differences and similarities between the athletic programs, as well as why some student athletes are drawn to one or the other are.

This episode was produced and hosted by TVDM major, Rob Rowan and directed by TVDM major, Elaina Crow.
