CARPE DIEM: The Editor of The Bergen Record

On this episode of Carpe Diem, host Merrill Brown, director of the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University is joined by Martin Gottlieb, an award-winning journalist who three years ago was named editor of The Bergen Record.
In 2014 under his leadership, the Record was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for its extraordinary coverage of heroin use in New Jersey. In addition, Martin has received many other awards including the George Polk Award for an investigative series on the Columbia/HCA Hospital Corp along with numerous Pulitzer Prize nominations. Martin has held top editing positions at The New York Times as well as the Daily News. At The New York Times as a global editions editor, he managed the editorial operations of the Paris and Hong Kong based International Herald Tribune. There he was involved in redesigning the newspaper as well as merging its website with nytimes.com
