Carpe Diem: Sonny Fox

Host of Wonderama tells Life Story and Highlights the Development of Children's Television

Airing on CARPE DIEM November 18 – 22, 2013

If you were a kid growing up in 1960s in the New York tri-state area, the name Sonny Fox holds a special place in your heart. For an entire decade, Sonny served as a unique and beloved father figure to millions of local children through the wit, wisdom and fun he dispensed as host of the hit show, Wonderama.

Sonny Fox’s amazing life story, however, doesn’t start or end with that landmark television program. It includes harrowing wartime experiences, pioneering contributions to the development of childrens’ television, superlative work as an historical interviewer and journalist, and now, great success as an author with the recent publication of the new book “But You Made the Front Page!: Wonderama, Wars, and a Whole Bunch of Life.” Still active in the television industry today, and still charming audiences with his stories and reminiscences, Sonny Fox is a local boy from Brooklyn who truly made good.

This episode was produced by Television and Digital Media professor, David Sanders, hosted by Author, Professor, and Entertainment Industry Attorney Charles Sanders and directed by TVDM major, Brianna Seneca.
