CARPE DIEM: Race, Power, and Sports – Part Two

The issue of racism in sports is an important topic for sports journalists today. As part of Montclair State’s school-wide look at inequality, host, Marc Rosenweig, associate professor in the School of Communication and Media, discussed coverage of “Race, Power and Sports” with a panel of three sports journalists.

The panel is co-sponsored by the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center on the MSU campus. The panel included Filip Bondy, Sports columnist for the New York Daily News, Mike Freeman, NFL National Lead writer for the Bleacher Report, and Clemson Smith Muniz, Spanish language broadcaster for pro teams like the NY Knicks and NY Jets. In part two of this discussion, host Marc Rosenweig asked Mike Freeman for his view on TMZ.com, which breaks many exclusive stories, and was the first to publish video of NFL star Ray Rice assaulting his then-fiance.

This episode was produced and hosted by associate professor, Marc Rosenweig from the School of Communication and Media and directed by TVDM major, Gabrielle Terkhanian.
