On this episode of Carpe Diem, host Merrill Brown, director of the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University is joined by David Folkenflik, media correspondent for National Public Radio. David discusses the operations of the media business, the critical role the press has played in the coverage of the current presidential campaign and what he’s looking for in the future of the rapidly changing media world.
At NPR, David covers media related stories, shedding light on topics from politics to the financial crisis and the role the media plays. His reports are primarily found on NPR’s news programs: All Things Considered and Morning Edition. David has broken many stories at NPR and is a three time winner of a National Press Club award for press criticism. He was the editor of the Cornell Daily Sun during his undergraduate years at that upstate New York University. He joined NPR 12 years ago after a decade at the Baltimore Sun, where he covered the media, higher education and politics.
