Carpe Diem: Immigration in New Jersey

A look at NJ News Commons and its work to increase coverage of immigration in NJ

Airing on CARPE DIEM February 3-7, 2014

New Jersey ranks fifth in the country for the number of foreign-born residents and third for the percentage of people born outside the United States. But press coverage of immigration in New Jersey is a shadow of what it is in border states like Texas and California. The Immigration Project is an initiative of NJ News Commons, which endeavors to tell the story of immigrants in the state.

Host, Debbie Galant, sits down with two partners in the Immigration Project, Terrence McDonald of the Jersey Journal and Beverly Peterson of the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State to discuss each of their roles in this venture.

This episode was produced and hosted by Debbie Galant, director of the NJ News Commons and directed by TVDM major, Mike Panepinto.
