Arts Advocacy Day: The Fight For The Arts

MSU Students Head to DC in an effort to sway lawmakers on Arts Funding

This past spring students from Montclair State University traveled to Washington, DC for the Annual Arts Advocacy Day in support of federal funding for arts programs across the country. Communication students Gentrix Shanga and Orlando Hurtado followed Communications Major Sarah Modo as she joined delegates from the state to lobby New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez to best reserve funds in the Federal Budget for New Jersey educational arts programs. Currently, the Federal Gov’t only allocates $145 Million Dollars yearly towards the Arts nationally.
